Sunday Distance Training
We just started our summer distance training program. It is an organized running and walk/run program. We are setting a goal to participate in either a half or full marathon in early to mid October or to just get in our best shape. This is a great place to meet up with local runners your pace, your distance, train together, explore new areas and learn from a professional running coach. This group training is sure to energize your body, inspire your mind and support you as you train for your desired goal this Fall. Train for San Jose Half Marathon October 3, Primo's 5k or Half Marathon in San Ramon October 10, Nike Women's Half or Full Marathon in San Francisco, Humboldt Redwoods Half Marathon, or Long Beach Marathon on October 17, or the California International Marathon in Sacramento or the Las Vegas Half Marathon December 5. A few folks are training for the New York City Marathon and the Malibu Marathon as well. This might even motivate you to try to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Whatever your goal, Suzanne has nearly thirty years of experience coaching and will guide you to your success. Let's get moving!
Begin your Sunday Run with a brief educational training topic or a focus tip to work on during your run. Topics include pacing, injury prevention, sports nutrition, mental training, strength training and more. Before your run, psyc up and loosen up in an upbeat pre-run warm-up to prepare for your run. Then depart for your running experience. Groups will depart together based on pace and distance. Suzanne will be available for your personal questions pre and post run. Return to fresh baked post run carbohydrate snacks. We foam roll our muscles and then perform our group stretch session to relax and increase flexibility. Occasional guest speakers like physical therapists, dieticians, shoe fit specialists will join Suzanne to provide valuable information. Massage therapists available on site to rejuvenate from our longer mileage days. Enjoy discounts on gear and fuel from our local sponsors.
Receive mapped courses every Sunday with mile markers, written directions, and the distance designated to meet your goal. We have beginner and intermediate levels for both half and full marathons (or shorter if you wish). Half marathoners will gradually work up to 12 miles and full marathoners will gradually work up to 22 miles. We start at Elite Training Systems in San Ramon and head toward Danville, Dublin or Windemere areas. Join for the season and be notified via e-mail of locations, training topics, and more. Pro-rated options available for late start participants.
